Why am I writing a blog?

My whole reason for writing a blog is simply to get all of this information and knowledge out of my head so it’s no longer taking up space. And who knows, I may even help some people in the process. I am bursting with so much to share that I just couldn’t stand it any longer. Plus, people are always asking me how I stay in shape, or what I eat, or for my latest recipe – and I’m referred to as a ‘Fitness Foodie’, so there you have it! But on a serious note, I’m in the process of studying to get my certification as a Fitness Nutrition Specialist.

I’ve studied nutrition and fitness since I was 8 years old when I got my first book pertaining to the subject. It only took a few pages and I was hooked. I realized even at a young age that what I put in my body will do something for me or to me, good or bad, and I wanted to explore that further. Food can be medicine.

It’s been a long journey of ups and downs over the years. There were times I ate nothing but fast food when I was younger and was about 20lbs overweight, and times I was too skinny and didn’t eat enough. I’ve gotten smarter about my choices as I’ve gotten older. So in my quest to feel better, have less pain and enjoy more energy and good days – I have studied many of the ‘greats’ of our time. I frequently check out Dr. Greger’s YouTube videos and website, and others’ sites such as kimberlysnyder.net, ohsheglows.com, happyherbivore.com, and doctoroz.com to name a few. But I’ve also gotten pretty good at researching various scientific studies and health-related topics myself. And if you haven’t seen the film Forks Over Knives, go watch it, it’s very interesting. I’m not 100% vegan, but like to remain mostly plant based.

No promises on posting times, but I hope to at least post a new tidbit once a week. My interest in this subject comes in waves, and some days may be slow because I’m busy at work. Either way, I hope you enjoy the research I’ll do to find answers to our most pressing questions. Feel free to ask any health-related questions and I’ll try to find the answers you’re looking for as soon as I can. And remember, the pictures on this site are mine, so please don’t copy or share as your own. Feel free to share my blog posts as is though.

You put it precisely the reason why I am writing a blog too, ‘simply to get all of this information and knowledge out of my head so it’s no longer taking up space.’ This format is better than a journal (unless you take criticism personally) because you can get feedback and further information to extend your knowledge. I look forward to reading more!
